Knowing (2009)

A movie of action, horror, and mystery. Knowing goes off into a world of horror, things that make you want to lie under the covers, scary things.

Plot: 50 years ago (in 1959, because this movie came out last year), a school made a time capsule that was to be uncovered 50 years later. There was a girl whose item was a long bunch of numbers. No one knew what it meant. 50 years later the time capsule was opened and a boy took the number sheet took it home, even though he wasn't supposed to. His father discovered something shocking about it (Starring Nicolas Cage as the father).

I really enjoyed this movie but it isn't for everybody. There are some very scary scenes in it. If you like scary movies it is like the scary movies from the 50s with quality. If you are a fan of these movies I would get this movie today and watch it. NOT for children 9 and under. Until my next blog...I'm out.

Spiderman 3 (2007)

A movie of excitement. A movie of drama. And most importantly, a movie of action. As you all know, this is a love story but there is plenty of action to keep you interested. In my opinion this movie wasn't that great considering that some people say it was the movie of the year and blah, blah, blah.

It had the action but they could have written a better story. Plus with Tobey Maguire not in SM4, this was the last chance to make it good. There can't be a better Peter Parker than Maguire.

Plot: Spiderman fights more supervillians and the people of NYC see him as a hero. Peter wants Mary Jane to marry him but she's jealous of his fame. He is attacked by an alien virus that makes him arrogant, hostile, and aggressive. He must defeat the Sandman who is a shape shifter who is a good person who turns to crime to save his sick daughter. The son of the green goblin wants revenge on Spidey for the death of his father and the appearance of the Venom (a new villain) takes the movie over the top. Basically, everything gets worse. As I said before, this movie could have been better. I will say it again, it could have been better and for SP4 to be better without TM they will have to get someone who knows the comic hero and can act like one.

Lord of the Rings 3: Return of the King (2003)

Yet again, another Lord of the Rings movie and the final part of the quest. My favorite of the three. Great battles, great music, great everything. It was one of the best movies of its year.

Plot: Frodo and Sam continue to Mt. Doom to destroy the One Ring. Meanwhile the rest of MiddleEarth prepares a final battle against the forces of Sauron.

With the help of unlikely characters - a man who understands the power of the Ring and Gollum, Sam and Frodo make it to Mt. Doom. But can Frodo give up the precious? Aragorn must decide if he is going to accept his kingdom and stop being a Ranger. The answers are found in the epic battles that occur. This movie was excellent and I'm looking forward to reviewing 'The Hobbit' when it comes out.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

This movie was pretty good but is the worst of the three LOTR movies. It has some of the best action and fighting of the three movies but the rest of the story drags along. You'll understand when you watch it. There is a lot of good foreshadowing for the third film. Pay attention.

Plot: The Fellowship is broken and the original nine are now seven and are separated into smaller groups. Men most defend their land against two enemies. Saruman and Sauron. Greatly outnumbered, even children take up weapons but as Aragorn says "There is always hope".

DO NOT WATCH THESE MOVIES OUT OF ORDER! YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND THEM!

The thing that I did not like about it is that it didn't carry the story well and the plot didn't fit into the bigger story. It is still worth watching.

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

The famous 'Night of the Living Dead' - A classic zombie movie. You think its, good? You'd be wrong. There are a couple of scary parts at the end but it is dull all the way through and not much happens.

Plot: Radiation causes dead people to come back to life all over the world. Seven get trapped in a house but the zombies are on to them. Its a fight to the finish to see who survives. I can't tell you more of the plot because there isn't much more without giving away all of it.

In the last part of the movie it gets exciting and gory. Little movie watchers beware. If you are a fan of getting scared, zombies, or monster movies, you should watch this. A little boring but parts worth watching. Warning: Children under 12 should NOT watch this movie, the beginning is tame but the end is violent.

Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

One of my favorites of all time. My favorite director - Tim Burton.

Plot: Fairytales merging Halloween and Christmas - what's not to like? There are different towns for different holidays. Trees with doors transport between the different towns.

Jack is only interested in one door - the one with the Christmas tree on it. He finds the world of Christmas but there is only one problem, what is wonderful to him is terrible to others. He becomes Santa Claus to learn more about the holiday. All goes well until the evil oogiie-boogie comes in to ruin Jack's plan and murder Santa Claus.

This movie is one of my all time favorites there is nothing I can say bad about it. What are you waiting for? Go watch it now!

The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

The was a fantastic movie. I did not expect it to be as good as it was. Three hours of excitement and just plan awesomeness.

Plot: Rings of Power have been created that control people. The most powerful one was lost for thousands of years. When it is found, is controls the person who has it and drives them crazy. The Dark Lord who made it wants it back. The good guys have to take it to a dangerous volcano where it must be destroyed to save Middle Earth.

This is a fantastic story and I say watch it. Before you know it, you will want to watch all three movies in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Spiderman (2002)

Were you a fan of Spiderman comics in the 60s and 70s, but you've never seen the movie? Are you worried that the movie might not be good? Or do you just not have time to see it? Let me tell you, you'll want to make time after reading this blog! After reading this blog, you'll probably think, "Why am I wasting time reading the last few sentences of this blog? I should just go to Blockbuster and get this movie!" OR you might ask, "Why am I wasting my time reading this? I don't even want to watch this movie!" All your questions will be answered in this blog.

This is a very exciting movie. I really enjoyed it and I'll bet you will, too, if you're into action and adventure. If you're someone who likes Spiderman, you probably like action and adventure and that means that you will like this movie.

Plot: Young Peter Parker, missing the bus once again to school....this is where our story begins. He soon goes to a science museum, with all types of spiders. One of the spiders, a new species, gets out of his cage and ends up biting him. This is how he gets his powers. That night he gets really sick. He soon gets to sleep.

Meanwhile, at a laboratory not far away, Peter's best friend's father, who is a scientist, is testing out his project. He's told by one of the other scientist that they are not ready to test the experiment, but the father says that part of science is taking risks. Once he does the experiment, he goes insane and starts killing innocent people and hears voices...and starts attacking people in the city ....and it's up to Spiderman to save the day!

I only told you a bit of the plot, but just wait until you see the movie. It's great and you'll never guess what happens at the end.

It's a fantastic movie and I suggest that you stop reading this right now and run out to Blockbuster and get the movie!!

whoops -- you will get that later.

Anyway, this was a great and exciting movie. It has a story I could never think up. It is a Tim Burton film, Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice.

This movie is about life after death.

Plot: Two people die in a car crash and end up returning home. The don't know they are dead but soon find out. It is about all the things you can and can't do as a ghost. Soon, new people move into the house and the ghosts try to scare them off, but they find out that only special people can see ghosts. They get a skeleton key and their daughter, the one person in the house who can see ghosts, opens the door to the attic and starts helping them.

They meet Beetlejuice, who promises to take them to the afterworld but he is really a crazy bad ghost. That's when the story takes off. The daughter, who hasn't died, still needs to be taken care of, and they have to send Beetlejuice back to the dead world.

This was an awesome movie. I bet you will really enjoy it. It is better than my description!

The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)

This was a great movie. It was different than the 1951 one in a better way, but I'm not surprised: it was made 57 years later.

It had a bunch of special effects, the acting was way better, and I knew who a couple of the characters were.

I can't tell you the plot, because there isn't really any and I already told you all that there was from my previous blog.

I would suggest not watching the old one and only watching this, but if you did that, then the new one would make no sense. It's not that it's a sequel, but to me, watching this version after I watched the old one made more sense. So, I would watch both of them.

This movie had a lot of surprise things that the alien couldn't do previously...it's a lot more exciting. One thing that I didn't like about it was the thing that the alien comes thing. It's a giant ball thing, but it didn't look like a spaceship. I liked the 1951 one better. Although it looked cool, it just wasn't that good. The alien in this version was way cooler and I suggest that you watch it, but, as I said, watch the old one first.

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

This was an okay movie. It was a little dull but had a great story. I didn't really like it. For 1951 the special effects were okay - destroying a tank, for instance.

Plot: An alien spaceship lands in Washington DC. The aliens want to warn the people of earth to stop being violent or face destruction from other planets. Gort, the robot shown in the picture is very powerful - he can even destroy the earth. Klaatu - the alien, tries to warn the world but they are too afraid to listen. Weird things start to happen.

Evan though I thought this movie could have been better, I still think it would be worth seeing.

King Kong (1978)

This was not a great movie. In my opinion, they took a classic movie and ruined it. For one thing, they took out the T-Rex scene, which was one of my favorite scenes in the movie.

When I say that they took a classic movie and ruined it, I'm not lying. If you saw it, you would know what I mean.

The only things that was better was the cinematography (this one was in color and the other one was in black and white). For one thing, some of the scenes were exactly the same as the one in 1933, but they were in color so it made it feel more realistic.

Another thing I liked about it is the special effects. King Kong looked more realistic.

I also liked how they captured King Kong. Instead of them just throwing one little grenade and having him knocked out -- that's just stupid -- but not as stupid for 1933. Instead in this one, they have a huge tank of some gasses that knock him out.

But don't get me wrong, I might a few things that I like about it, but still, I did not like this movie.

For one thing, the lady in this movie was one no Scream Queen. Basically, all she did for screaming was say, "Ah! Please don't hurt me, please don't hurt me." If I could make a chart of screaming in King Kong movies, then in the 1933 one, Fay Wray would be at the top of the chart, because she screamed way too much, but the actress in this one didn't scream enough, so she would be at the bottom. For King Kong, I wouldn't like someone who never stops screaming and someone who barely screams, I'd like someone between that.

Another thing that I didn't like about this was the tribe people. They scare away the tribe people at one point and then the people capturing Kong open the gate. When that happens, all of the sudden, the tribe people are just back. I was like, "What the heck!? The tribe people are just back?!"

Plot: The plot is the same at the 1933 version.

I really didn't like this movie and I suggest that you don't watch it, unless you are a huge fan of King Kong. If not, then don't.

The Mummy Returns - The Scorpion King (2001)

This was a fabulous movie. I really enjoyed watching this. If you enjoyed the first, you will definitely enjoy this. It is way more action and adventure.

Plot: 10 years after the first movie Rick and Evie return to save the world from Imhotep again. This time he tries to defeat the Scorpion King to take over Anubis' army. Rick and Evie's son, Alex, finds the Scorpion King's bracelet - which is locked onto his wrist but also unlocks clues to the mystery. Imhotep's gaurds kidnap Alex so he can lead them to find the Scorpion King.

Watch the first one before this but don't miss this one.

Rating: 10 out of 10

King Kong (1933)

This was a great, fantastic, and classic movie. I really liked all of the action and adventure and everything just fit in.

Oh and guess what? This movie was where we see the first Hollywood “Scream Queen” Her name is Fay Wray.

She could scream more than the lady in “Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom.”

There were many famous scenes and I loved it.

Plot:

A group of scientists go to an island to see if the legendary Kong really exists and they find a tribe of people who do not like them. That night they go back to the ship and that night the tribe people go to the ship and steal the lady. There is a wall on the island that the tribe uses to protect themselves from Kong.

They trap the lady and Kong takes her away thinking she is his bride.

Soon the people find out that she is missing and about 30 people go out looking for her.

What happens next?

Well, you’ll have to watch the movie to find out.

This is one of my favorite classic movies of all time and I bet you will enjoy it, too.

There was nothing bad about this movie except for the part where Fay Wray did not stop screaming. It was getting on my nerves after a while and the only reason why they didn’t do anything about it is because they did not have duct tape in the 1930s. Duct tape was not developed until 1942.

Watch this movie and love it.

One thing I didn’t expect for this movie was the importance of the music. Every time I heard music it was just perfect. I can’t tell you why…you will just have to watch the movie.

My rating: 9 out of 10 – Should see!

The Mummy (1999)

This was a great movie. I really like all the action. I suggest you watch this movie. It has a lot of excitement, a ton of action, and if you haven't seen it, I suggest you watch it now.

Plot: 1920s treasure hunters resurrect an undead mummy who threatens to take over the world. He doesn't have his full powers until he recovers the missing caliphs jars. hen he does, he has control over the 10 plagues of Egypt including control of the sand.

I bet you will really enjoy this movie. It is one of my favorite movies of all time. I have liked it since the first time I saw it. It gets you pumped up, especially the 2nd half - and it was made the year I was born. I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the best movies of the year.

Ghostbusters II (1989)

This was a good movie. Not as good as GBI but still pretty good.

If you liked 'The Blob,' you'll like this.

Plot: The ghost busters end up going out of business. They find this new ghost which is blob type stuff that can grow when humans yell at it and make it mad. (It is attracted to human speech.)

It ends up being this ghost of this famous guy who had drowned hundreds of years ago. They try to convince the mayor but he doesn't believe them and they wind up in jail. The mayor realizes he needs them after all as ghosts over take the city.

How do they do it? Music and one big lady.

When the mayor shouts "Somebody get me the Ghostbusters!" -- you can guess what happens next -- who you gonna call?

Rating: 5 out of 10 okay

Men in Black II (2002)

This is a great movie. Not as good as MIB I but very funny.

As always, another threat comes to earth and the MIBs have to stop it. I like that they brought back

some of the first movie's cast - Agent Jay (will Smith) and Kay (Tommie Lee Jones) along with

Zed (Rip Torn) and Jeebs (Tony Shalhoup).

Plot: As usual an earth destroying threat must be stopped. 30 years ago, Serlenna came to get the

Light of Zortha but believed it left planet earth. She returns when she discovered it was still on

the planet. It is up to Agents Jay and Kay to keep the light away from Serleena.

There are many funny scenes and it is a great movie to watch with your family. There are a lot of good

twists. If you liked the first movie you'll like this one, too.

Rating: 8 out of 10 - Could See

Ghostbusters (1984)

This was a great movie. I'll bet that you will enjoy it. It has a lot of action that keeps you watching.

At the beginning of the movie, there are three Ghostbusters (Peter, Ray, and Egon) who are kind of going out of business, they haven't caught any ghosts in a long time. They end up losing their place and end up going to an old firehouse and then about a week or two later they get a call. That call is a about some grumpy, old, green ghost (as you can see in the picture ------>) who lives in a hotel. After they catch it, they end up getting wicked popular. But that's not the main ghost.

The main ghost is called Zuul and it turned out that the door to Earth is in an apartment building. As they stop that, this jerk from the EPA decides to shut it down the ghost container (everyone working for him disagrees, but he makes them shut it down). After that, all the ghosts come out and Zuul ends up being all of the ghosts combined. The Ghostbusters have to use all of their technology to destroy Zuul. Then Ray ends up making one little move that almost kills them. I'm not going to spoil too much of the movie, but it's weird.

It's a great movie and should be considered one of the top 50 movies of all time. It will probably be the best movie from 1984 that you will ever see.

Dracula (1931)

Do you want to watch this classic? You heard it was wicked popular? A big hit? Well, if it is, then I must have picked up the wrong version of Dracula.

This movie is just terrible. It's boring, short, and nothing of what you'd expect from a Dracula movie happens. They ruined the ending...it was bad, even for 1931.

Plot...there's not much to tell.

I don't know what the director was thinking and I don't know what the people who saw this in 1931 must have thought! If you asked some who were people in 1931, they might say that this was a great movie but, no, it is not.

It has good acting, but I really don't think that you're going to like this movie at all.

My rating: 4/10

Men in Black (1997)

This was a really great movie. A lot of comedy and action and adventure. If you love aliens and other alien movies then you'll love this. It has a great story and acting.

Plot: There is a secret government group that hunts down aliens. Agent K 's (Tommy Lee Jones) partner decides to retire. His memory is erased and K needs to get a new partner. They interview 'the best of the best of the best' and one is chosen to become Agent J (Will Smith). They spend the rest of the movie tracking down a giant killer bug.

I think that you will really enjoy this movie. You should watch it the next chance you get. In my opinion, it is the best alien movie you'll ever see. (Until MIB II...) But let's not go there, yet.

Frankenstein (1931)

This classic was a great movie...for 1931! It was bit too short and the acting was terrible...and I mean terrible!

In one scene a guy a knocks on a door and about half a second later, he started complaining that they weren't home. Really? Doesn't he know that you're supposed to wait? That's not real acting, but the acting was good for 1931.

Back then they couldn't make that long of a film, so they skipped all the way to the grave robbing (I kinda wish they skipped even more so they could have put more Frankenstein).

It wasn't what you would expect for a classic, but I got to see some of the most famous scenes of movie history. They don't show as much as much of Frankenstein as they do in the book.

Another scene that I didn't like was when he threw a little girl in the water and she drowns. The water was really shallow, so that wasn't realistic.

The ending is not exactly what you would think it would be, but one of the greatest movie scenes of all time.

Not a good movie, kind of dull but I'll bet it would be 50 times better if they remade it today. You still may want to see it because it's a classic, but it's not very good.

20 Million Miles to Earth (1957)

It all started one day. I was walking and I saw something falling from the sky. I couldn't make out what it was, but it looked like it was coming from 20 million miles from Earth. It hit me on the head. It ended up being a DVD. I decided to watch it to see what things are like, 20 million miles from Earth.

I'll be you're wondering...are things there good or bad? Do they have good movies? What are things like there?

I will explain it now: This movie was a little short. I think they should have put a couple scenes in. The first half was awful, the second half was pretty good.

Its plot was this man was sailing out at sea and he sees this gigantic spaceship comes from the sky and lands in the ocean. There is only one survivor that the people who saw the ship saved. It turns out the that US sent a spaceship to Venus (20 million miles from Earth). When they went there they found some fish-like monsters and they brought back this Jell0-like thing like a loaf of French bread (it looks like it was made of green Jello). A boy finds it near the beach and he takes to a friend of his, who is a scientists. Later, something starts coming out of it that is 5 inches tall, it is the monster. The thing starts to grow overnight because of the O2 in air on Earth makes it grow somehow. It soon because the size of a sky scraper, killing many people. The government tries attacking it.

That's mainly the plot, but it just happens too quickly that it's not that good. If they added about 4 or 5 more scenes, it would be good. If they made it an 1 hour and 42 minutes instead of 1 hour and 22 minutes it would be better. I think they should remake it.

Not the best monster movie, but if you're interested in giant fish-like types of monsters or things like that, than you'll probably like this.

Aliens in the Attic (2009)

This was a great movie. The beginning of it is like the beginning of Men in Black and it is very funny. There is a lot of action, adventure and I bet you'll enjoy this movie. If you're someone who likes the original monster movies (like The Blob or something like that), it's not one of those.

The plot of it is this family goes on vacation with their cousins in this house every summer for fishing. While they are there, aliens fall from space, come to Earth to destroy it, and start out in their attic. It turns out that they have these mind-control things and if they shoot people in the neck, they will be under the control of the aliens. It only works with grownups, so the kids have to attack the aliens to make sure that they won't take over the world.

Who wins, the aliens or the people? You'll have to watch it to find out. I'm only writing a blog and I'm not going to tell you the end!

If you want a family comedy movie, you should go to see this. This movie had a lot of great details and surprises and, even though gave it a low rating, I don't think it's that bad...I just think it's bad for a monster movie.

Plan 9 From Outer Space (1958)

Like Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, one of the worst movies of all time, I've made my decision of which one is worse -- I will tell you at the end. For one thing, this movie's special effects were weren't so special.

I laughed at how bad they were. The flying saucer was actually a little toy flying saucer hanging from a string. The zombies were obviously people who were looking all creepy, but they were obviously fake. Everything about this movie is terrible. It's just bad. You couldn't write anything more. It's like....oh, my gosh! It seemed like a comedy movie because of how bad it was.

I recommend that you never see this movie in your life. If anyone in your family or one of your friends hasn't seen it and they want to, say NO. It's the worst movie ever. You will end up laughing about it is.

Attack of the 50 Foot Woman had no fighting...except for some at the end. Plan 9 From Outer Space had some fighting throughout.

Little Shop of Horrors (1986)

Little Shop of Horrors (LSH) is probably the best musical I've ever seen. Not a lot of action but there is a lot that happens in it.

It is about a plant that came from outer space. A man named Seymour buys it but doesn't know how to take care of it. He soon finds out it needs BLOOD. Human blood.

Soon it moves from sipping blood to eating people. Like 'The Blob" (see my review of the Blob on this site), the plant grows larger after every meal.

This movie has two different endings. I think you'll enjoy this movie. If you enjoyed 'The Blob' then you'll enjoy this movie.

I really liked this movie. It is a great movie to watch when you are in for a scare.

A shooting star opens the movie. Two people see it and try to find it. Someone else finds it first but is attacked. Soon more people are attacked as the Blob grows. This movie deserves to be more popular than it was. It stars a young Steve McQueen.

You will enjoy this movie. Watch it at night and I bet you'll be scared.

I don't want to spoil the movie for you, but I'm a little concerned about global warming.

The Return of the Fly (1959)

In this movie they actually did have a fly walking around killing people, unlike the first fly movie.

This movie's plot is like the first one, but you really need to watch the first one to understand the sequel.

The plot of the story is that the scientist from the first movie's son tries to continue on with his experiments. He works with his best friend, his wife, and this other guy (but I'm not sure who he is). It's kind of dull at the beginning but then Philip's best friend tripped him and then the friend went down to the lab and started breaking everything. Philip found him down there breaking things and then they started to fight. Then he put him in the teleporter and at the last moment he found a fly and put it in. The next thing you know, he comes out part fly, part human. That's when he goes around killing people (because he has a fly brain).

He ends up killing his best friend by strangling him for putting them in there. He does a lot of damage and the police start chasing him.

What happens the end? You're going to have to watch the movie to find that out!

This movie was pretty good. It had a lot of action and you never knew what was going to happen. Many surprises. They brought in a bunch of new Transformers. This was the best of the series.

I really liked that the good guys had to fight hard. There were parts where you thought this and that were going to happen and then at the last moment it all changes and something good comes up. It was a great movie and you didn't know how it would end. 2 hours 40 minutes of action.

This was an awesome movie and I recommend you to see it.

Arachnophobia (1990)

This movie was pretty good. It didn't have much action, but it was a great story.

These people found this new species of spider in South America and they bring it back, not knowing that it's poisonous. Once they get back, one of the guys dies and they send his body away to the city that he lived in, not knowing that the spider had crawled into the case and snuck out of it. It found its way to a house that these people had just moved into.

Later on it becomes pregnant and many more spiders go around the town killing people. Soon there is another egg sack, which they have to destroy or else the arachnophobia will destroy everyone in the city.

I'm not going to give too much more away. You'll just have to see it for yourself.

I thought this movie was pretty good. By the end there are about a million spiders and you never know what is going to happen. It is just shocking. You can't figure if the spiders are going to end up winning or losing. You just don't ever know. There is a lot of excitement.

It's just a great movie.

Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958)

This was the worst movie ever made! If you've ever heard of this, you probably think that it's popular and good, but it isn't. Just don't see it.

I don't even want to do a review of it....it's that bad!

They only have the 50 foot woman in one scene at the end and they don't really explain how she gets big. They should have deleted three or four other scenes and added more of the 50 foot woman.

The movie is also really short.

My suggestion? Don't see this movie! It's probably famous for being so bad. Worst movie ever made!

Godzilla (1998)

First of all, this isn't the original Godzilla, it's one of the remakes of it from 1998.

This movie was pretty good. I didn't like the first half (it was kind of dull), but I loved the second half. There was a lot of action in it. I enjoyed the action, but Godzilla looked like a dinosaur from Jurassic Park.

The Fly (1958)

The Fly was pretty good, although before I saw it I thought it was going to be about a giant fly that went around eating people. It wasn't. It's actually about this guy who finds out how to teleport something and decides to teleport himself, not knowing that there was fly in the in there, too.

When he came out, he ended up being part fly, part human. In the end he has his wife kill him and she tells the tragic story.

I have to say that I thought this was going to be really better than it was. I thought there were going to be some good fight scenes, but there were not. The preview didn't really help see what the movie was about. It's very weird and not the best movie. It isn't really the type of monster movie that I thought it was.
